More than 100 people attended Fr Chris Gorton’s musical extravaganza in aid of our charity last weekend.
Attendees gathered to celebrate the anniversary of Father Chris’s ordination to the priesthood twenty five years ago.
They were welcomed by St Ambrose Barlow’s steel band which provided a fantastic musical introduction to the evening and to Soleus – a string quartet. After the interval, the school’s rock band performed a couple of tunes, and then Mercy Brothers finished the evening, a performance which had everyone dancing in the aisles.
The total amount raised was £1,620.87, which means – with gift aid – we could sponsor a room in one of the Caritas Salford safe and supported accommodation projects in the diocese for at least 12 months.
Thank you so much to everyone for their incredible generosity.
Rachel Taylor, our head of fundraising, said: “A special thanks to all of the staff and the pupils of St Ambrose Barlow RC High School in Swinton for their wonderful hospitality and for providing such a warm welcome. The young people’s exemplary manners, behaviour and talent was a credit to them, and to their families and teachers.
“Thank you all once again for your ‘caritas’ – love in action – and to Father Chris for choosing to support local people experiencing poverty, homelessness and displacement. We really appreciate your generosity and kindness.”
