We call for change to tackle the causes and effects of poverty, homelessness, discrimination and disadvantage.

Campaigning and calling for change
Our vision is for a just society, where the voices of people experiencing poverty, homelessness, discrimination and disadvantage are heard, valued and acted upon. Our campaigns are shaped by the voices of those who use our services.
We believe in the dignity of every person and that everyone has the right to flourish. Policymaking must enable this, and we aim to drive lasting and meaningful change in Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
We advocate for changes in policies, systems and attitudes, raising awareness of the issues and the change that is needed. We do this across four key areas: poverty and disadvantage, children and young people, housing security and homelessness, and welcoming migrants and refugees.

How we do this…
There are lots of ways we campaign and advocate for change, including:
- Conducting research and publishing reports
- Engaging with policymakers such as MPs and local councillors
- Campaigns and awareness raising
- Submitting evidence from our work to the Government and other decision-making bodies
- Playing an active part in various networks and coalitions
- Developing and providing a variety of resources and other tools to help you take action in your community too

Help end child poverty locally
We’re calling for urgent action after carrying out exclusive research which has shown a staggering increase in child poverty over the last three years.
This has a direct impact on the educational outcomes of pupils, as well as their health, wellbeing and future.
Changes we’re calling for to help improve the lives of local children include an end to the two-child benefit cap, free school meals for all, and increased funding for mental health and SEND provision in schools.

Join our homelessness campaign
Many people say that they never dreamed they’d become homeless, yet it could happen to any of us at any time.
We believe everyone should have a safe, secure place to call home, but too many people in Greater Manchester and Lancashire are homeless, including those rough sleeping and those spending far too long in unsuitable temporary accommodation.
So we’re campaigning for urgent changes including an end to the use of unsupported temporary accommodation such as B&Bs, reforms to the private rented sector, and an increase in the supply of social housing.
There are lots of simple ways you can help. Please join us.

The key changes we’re calling for
Our policy and advocacy priorities are broken down into four areas which address both the causes and effects of poverty, homelessness and disadvantage.
