We believe that volunteering should be a mutually beneficial experience where volunteers can contribute to our strategic goals and enjoy a fulfilling experience while also learning new skills.

We love that our volunteers have such a huge benefit on our organisation, bringing with them a range of skills and experience – and a huge amount of enthusiasm too!

We’re committed to providing a supportive environment for our volunteers, managing our relationships in a way that ensures the needs of both parties are met.

We aim to create a diverse and inclusive organisation – with a warm welcome guaranteed for everyone who joins our team.

“I love it and feel fulfilled doing it. I like to talk to some of the people who come into the centre too. Because I have volunteered for a while I do feel valued by the visitors as well as the staff.”

“Volunteering at the Caritas Salford Lalley community allotment has enabled me to meet new friends, improve my health through farm work and increase my knowledge about organic farming and UK society.”

Your stories

  • Supporting Jo*

Jo was homeless and sleeping rough at Manchester airport when they came to our Cornerstone centre for support. Unable to claim benefits, work or secure a place to call home, they asked our team to help.
  • Supporting Amber*

Amber* was supported by our team after her mum’s recent abusive relationship meant she found it challenging to attend school and was inattentive in class.
  • Staff and volunteers supporting people locally: Kirstie

Kirstie, works at Caritas as our individual giving officer, building relationships with our donors and supporting them as they raise money for our charity. She also raises money through our various campaigns and fundraising activities.

“It’s great for me to have the volunteer work in the lovely Caritas allotment, where I can grow different vegetables and meet different people.  As a newcomer from Hong Kong, I wish to continue to help people in need and contribute to this country too.”
