Corporate support
We are so grateful to the owners, directors and employees of businesses based across Greater Manchester and Lancashire who support us.
We couldn’t continue our work without the kindness and generosity or local people like you, supporting in numerous ways so that we can continue tackling poverty and homelessness in our community.
There are lots of ways you can help…

Arrange a team volunteering day (over 18s only)
Spend a day volunteering in one of our projects and learning more about the work we do. Once we have welcomed and briefed your team, each person will be paired up with our regular volunteers for a variety of tasks. These might include: working in our kitchen or food pantry, serving drinks, helping to sort out donations, staffing our welcome desk, joining in and/or supporting our activities, working in our garden or community allotment.
There will be lots of opportunities for team members to talk with people in the service or to sit and have meal with them. We also have various activity sessions, which we encourage you all to fully participate in, rather than observe. It’s an easy way to just be alongside people and chat. The day ends with a de-briefing session, which is your team’s opportunity to ask questions, give feedback and learn more about what we have planned that you can help us with, as well as to capture your team photo and any permissions.
As a charity, we rely on donations to continue our work and welcome your organisation’s support of this. Therefore, as part of our corporate volunteering day experience, we ask companies to make a donation or commit to a small fundraising activity to help us with our daily costs.

Sponsor a room
Your donation of £1,500 could help us to provide a room for someone experiencing homelessness.
Caritas operates a number of supported accommodation projects for people who might otherwise be sleeping rough or in unsuitable bed and breakfast accommodation.
This includes accommodation for men only, and also for young parents and their infant children to receive the good start to life a baby needs.
A donation of £1,500 could pay for a lovely room with brand new bedding, towels, furniture, kitchen accessories and decoration for a homely start towards independent living.

Give monthly
The very best help you can provide is to donate financially, so that our charity can keep on providing the help that local families and adults so desperately need. For example, Financial Options is a company in Bury that supports our Red Door day centre for people experiencing homelessness with a regular monthly donation.
One of their directors meets with our team periodically and we make plans together for how their
giving can make the most impact.

Charity of the year
Perhaps you can choose us to be your charity of the year?
Your employees may wish to fundraise with activities at work at a key time, or throughout the year. Or perhaps – like Rakem – your organisation asks colleagues to choose a different charity each month and then makes a company donation.
Make a donation now or contact us for more details.
Challenge events
Like our friends at Bupa, you might have a colleague who has signed up to a race challenge. Or maybe your team agrees to participate in a Caritas event like the Big Sleep Out or our Lancashire Hike.
Asking friends, family and work contacts to sponsor you is a great way to support people in crisis accessing Caritas services.

Professional services we need that your business provides
Local businesses such as Renbrand Creative, MP&Co and Doodledo supply us with design, print, web and fundraising appeal animation services. We’re so grateful for their advice and expertise.
Is there something your company does which you could help us with?

Collect and donate practical items
There are always practical things we need to buy for people visiting Caritas services, such as groceries, toiletries and cleaning products.
We’ll provide you with an up to date list on request.
Why your support matters so much
“I was really at my limit and didn’t know what to do, but you were there. I was sleeping in the cemetery and walking from there to your Cornerstone day centre every day gave me huge blisters on my feet so I couldn’t wear any shoes without pain. It just felt like there was no point in asking for help.
“My mental health was really hard but your staff helped me to get some accommodation so I wasn’t on the streets any more and helped me get mental health support as well. Every morning at Cornerstone, staff helped me to look after my feet, using bandages and sterile wipes and they got me to see the nurse at the drop-in session.
“I am hoping to move into a longer term accommodation soon and I want to volunteer too when I am in a better headspace. You’re always there and helped me get off the streets. I didn’t have the energy but you did. You got it all sorted, and I really appreciate you. I’m going to get settled but I will be back to thank you again.”
