As the Jubilee Year ends, Matt, our parish, communities and volunteer engagement officer, tells us more about what we achieved and how we are committed to keeping hope alive in the coming year too…

As the Jubilee Year has now drawn to a close, we wanted to pause and reflect on a year marked by hope, action and solidarity – of being Pilgrims of Hope.

Across the Diocese of Salford and beyond, the Jubilee of 2025 was an invitation to journey together with open hearts and renewed faith, trusting in God’s promise of renewal even in the midst of adversity. We’ve been honoured to play an important role in this journey.

Throughout the year, our charity has worked to bring the spirit of the Jubilee to life in practical and accessible ways.

Central to this work was the creation of a range of resources to support prayer, reflection and social action at a local level.

We developed three key resources for parishes on the topics of:

  • Increasing parish accessibility
  • Celebrating and connecting with older people
  • Responding to poverty in our communities

These can all be accessed by clicking here.

The positive response from people across the diocese has shown how these materials sparked reflection, conversation, and concrete acts of service.

Jubilee 2025 Pilgrims of hope logoA key highlight of the year was the Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) Jubilee of Social Justice event in Liverpool, which brought together diocese and agencies from across England and Wales to share their ideas and hopes for the Jubilee year and beyond. We were proud to contribute to this national celebration, sharing our experiences and learning alongside partners from the wider network.

Alongside this, our services have embodied the Jubilee call to be Pilgrims of Hope by translating hope into tangible change for the communities we support.

Across issues such as homelessness, poverty and migration, our teams and partners worked to ensure that hope was not just proclaimed but experienced.

Through practical support, advocacy, accompaniment and compassion, we’ve sought to restore dignity to people and communities through practical social action.

We give thanks for all that has been achieved and look ahead with renewed hope.

While the Jubilee has ended, its call continues – to walk together, to place dignity at the centre of all we do and to build a more just and compassionate society.

We remain committed to carrying forward the spirit of the Jubilee in our ongoing work and we’re deeply grateful to all who took part in this shared journey.
