A key part of our work is campaigning and calling for change to address the policies and systems that impact people experiencing poverty, homelessness and disadvantage.
One of the ways we do this is by engaging with local decision-makers and asking them to advocate on our behalf for the changes needed to help people transform their lives with dignity.
We are very grateful that MP for Manchester Rusholme, Afzal Khan, recently spoke in Parliament about the work of Caritas Salford.
In a Westminster Hall debate about funding for homelessness, Afzal Khan MP shared that demand for our homelessness services has increased by 19 per cent in the last year, and how long-term, sustainable funding is essential for services such as ours to continue our vital work.
Support from decision-makers is crucial as we work to influence changes to the structures and systems that prevent people from being having a safe, secure place to call home, and to ensure that our work is adequately funded as we journey alongside people experiencing homelessness.
