New walking group boosts wellbeing in Bury
Date Published: 22 May 2024
Our Red Door Centre in Bury was pleased to host a special walking group, as part of a project to improve the wellbeing of people locally.
The project, which has been kindly funded by the Bury VCFA – Get Bury East Moving fund, includes the team at our Red Door day centre arranging a range of walking sessions in the area. A special booklet will also be produced to share with the local community. The first session took place in Burrs County Park with a community packed lunch provided by the Red Door team.
Mike Holmes, who runs the Red Door service, said: “It was a beautiful day weather-wise and we were really pleased to welcome people to join us for our walking group.
“At Red Door we know how important someone’s health and wellbeing is to their overall mental and physical state, and the range of services and activities we offer aims to help empower people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
“Feedback on the day was that people really loved the chance to socialise with others, get into the fresh air, take some moderate exercise and enjoy lunch together. We can’t wait for the next one – all are welcome so please do get in touch or drop by the centre to find out more.”
