We’ve been shortlisted for a Spirit of Manchester Award

We’re really excited to have been shortlisted for this year’s Spirit of Manchester Awards.
The awards, which celebrate and highlight the excellent work being carried out in Manchester’s voluntary and community sector, are run by Manchester Community Central and are held annually.
Our team has been shortlisted in the Service User Involving Organisation category, and we’re delighted to have been recognised in this way.
Much of work involves developing and improving our services and activities alongside the people who access them.
We regularly hold planning sessions with local people to ensure that we’re offering what best meets their needs and so we can address things that are most important to them.
In the last year, in our Cornerstone, Morning Star, Caritas House and Lalley Centre, for example, we had:
- 130 service planning sessions with people accessing the services
- 192 different individuals were involved in those planning sessions
- 77 of those people have also become community volunteers – people who use our services but also give back their time to help others.
- The community volunteers work alongside our wider volunteering group of more than 200 individuals, helping us in many ways and bringing their own experiences and skills to support others to transform their lives.
It makes such a difference: “I’ve gone from living in my car to living in fantastic accommodation, with the support I need. It has improved my mental health too and I’d like to say a big thank you.”
