Free signposting resources for your local community
People in communities across Greater Manchester and Lancashire often get in touch to ask about places they can signpost people locally to get support or advice on everything from homelessness to poverty, cost-of-living assistance to food crisis, refugee support to helping with drug and alcohol addictions – and lots more too.
To help you help others in your community, we have put together a series of area-specific handy signposting guides which can be downloaded from our website and are designed to help point individuals and community groups to organisations or services who can help.
Patrick O’Dowd, our director, said: “With an increase in the number of people needing support due to the cost-of-living crisis and those who are experiencing extreme poverty or homelessness, we know that members of our local parishes, community groups and schools are often approached by people needing support quickly.
“Our teams in our services across Greater Manchester and Lancashire are always happy to help and to provide assistance, and we have created these signposting guides that people can download from our website too, in the hope that they can also help at a time of acute crisis.
“A big part of our work here at Caritas is ensuring people locally are equipped with the resources they need to be able to take action in their local area, and these signposting resources are the latest in a range of free toolkits we have available on our website.
“Please do get in touch if you have any other ideas about resources or information that might be helpful as you try and work alongside people in your community too – we’re always happy to discuss and support if we can.”
