We’re thrilled that our team has been shortlisted for this year’s Spirit of Manchester Awards.
The awards, which celebrate and highlight all the excellent work being carried out in Manchester’s voluntary and community sector, are run by Manchester Community Central and are held annually.
Our team has been shortlisted in the partnership and collaboration category, and we’re delighted as much of our work involves working closely with individuals, businesses, charities and other organisations from across Greater Manchester and beyond.
The team has been shortlisted for our Homeless Health Hubs, which were set up following an audit we ran in 2024 that looked at the health and wellbeing of people experiencing homelessness locally.
People who are homeless have significantly poorer health than the general population, including 78% of those surveyed identifying as has having mental health problems compared to 12.7% of the general population.
73% identified as having at least one physical health condition, compared to 50% of the general population.
88% of people said they wanted help with an aspect of their health or support in accessing services or improving their wellbeing.
Amanda Croome who leads our homelessness services, said: “We work really closely with people who come to access our services, listening to them about what is important and identifying barriers or ways we can support them to transform their lives.
“Our homeless health hubs – which have been developed alongside those we work with – are just one example of this and we’re really thrilled that the team and all of the partner agencies involved are being recognised in this way.

“The hubs bring together various partners, from GPs and nurses to opticians, drug and alcohol workers, and much more. They all provide care and support for people who need it and – most importantly – give a cohesive, joined up approach to helping them improve their health and wellbeing.
“These run alongside a whole range of other activities and sessions we hold to help people improve their physical and mental health.
“We’re really looking forward to the awards and thanks again to the Spirit of Manchester team for shortlisting us.”
