South Manchester singers to hit right note for our charity

It’s always exciting to hear about people in the local community who choose to support our charity and raise funds to help us work with people across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
South Manchester-based Romulus Singers are doing just that as they start a year of 25th birthday celebrations with a concert in aid of our Cornerstone day centre.
Choir chair, Marie Dixon, said: “We wanted to launch our anniversary year by doing something of benefit to the wider community. Caritas Cornerstone’s work with people experiencing homelessness is inspirational. We are very happy to be lending them our support.”

Romulus Singers formed back in 2000 when singers from the 100-strong Altrincham Choral Society met to indulge their love of smaller-scale unaccompanied works.
Over the years, as the choir has evolved, they have explored works from early Renaissance sacred and secular music to modern arrangements of folk and popular songs – and plenty in between.
Musical director, Kate Shipway, said: “We have an exciting anniversary year programme lined up.”
Choir members learnt about our work through their association with Holy Angels Catholic Church, where they rehearse and regularly perform. Holy Angels is a longstanding champion of our charity.
The concert will take place on Sunday 12 January at 3pm at Holy Angels Catholic Church Parish Hall, Wicker Lane, Hale Barns, WA15 0HF.
Tickets are £10 for adults or £5 for students or children.
They are available at www.romulus-singers.co.uk or on the door on the day.
If you’re going along on 12 January, do share any pictures or clips with us on social media…
And, if you’d like to hold your own fundraiser for Caritas, let us know. We’d love to hear from you.
