Rochdale Catenians’ fundraising celebration
We simply couldn’t do what we do without the support of local people and organisations who fundraise for our charity. Irish eyes were certainly smiling at this special celebration organised by Rochdale Catenians…
Thanks to Rochdale Catenians for choosing Caritas Salford as the President’s Charity of the Year for 2023-24, culminating in a St Patrick’s Day party fundraiser featuring the Middlewich Paddies, Irish dancers and a pie supper.
Graham Sivills, the director of Rochdale Catenians (Province 1), said: “My family has long supported Caritas Salford, and my wife Briege is the Caritas Parish Rep at our church.
“We were thrilled to hear that President Andrew Murray had chosen Caritas Salford this year as President’s Charity along with the RNLI. As I am Chair of the Entertainments Committee, Briege and I were delighted to organise the event for St Patrick’s Day and charity raffle.
“It was good to present Caritas with a cheque at our recent AGM and to hear the impact that the money raised will have on local individuals and families facing poverty and homelessness right now.”
Patrick O’Dowd, our director, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the continued support and generosity of the Rochdale Catenian group who’ve raised an amazing £2,391 in aid of Caritas Diocese of Salford from their recent sell-out St Patrick’s night event.
“As the cost-of-living crisis continues to severely impact the people in the communities we work with locally, demand for our services is continuing to rise. This is against an economic backdrop which means costs to deliver those services are also increasing, while funding is reducing or proving more difficult to access.
“That’s why the generous support of the Rochdale Catenians and circles across Salford Diocese is so vital to our work. We really do appreciate it and couldn’t help local people without their backing.”
We are always delighted when any group chooses to fundraise for Caritas Salford at one of their events, or adopts us as their charity of the year.
