We recently worked in collaboration with Resolve Poverty,  a social enterprise aiming to enhance the living standards of communities across the UK, to host a special free training session: ‘Parishes Tackling Poverty: Hope Through Action’ in south Manchester.

The event focused on addressing the pressing issue of poverty in Greater Manchester and provided practical tools and best practices for individuals, parishes, and organisations aimed at supporting people within their communities.

This was the second of two sessions, the first being held earlier in the year in Burnley for people based in the north of the diocese.

Participants, which included people from local parishes and schools across the south of the diocese, engaged in a morning filled with insightful discussions and valuable learning opportunities.

The session concluded with a strong call to action, encouraging attendees to implement the strategies discussed in their own parishes and setting.

Is your parish looking to expand its outreach to marginalised groups and individuals?

Are you seeking to enhance your visibility within the community?

Do you have a desire to help reduce poverty in your local area?

If so, there are numerous ways you can get involved and make a difference.

For more information on how your parish can take action against poverty, please contact our parish and communities engagement officer Matt Yates on m.yates@caritassalford.org.uk or visit our ‘In Your Parish’ page to look at our variety of resources

Together, we can create meaningful change in our communities to combat the causes and impact of poverty.
