Hundreds attend special allotment open afternoon

Our Caritas Lalley community allotment team hosted a very special open afternoon yesterday at our site in Manchester.
More than 250 people came along to join us for the family-friendly event, which included a whole range of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.
Despite a cloudy and rainy start to the day, the weather wasn’t too bad, and certainly didn’t keep people away – with attendees enjoying a range of garden games, allotment tours, harvesting, music and food. Many even took the chance to make their own pizza in our special outdoor oven too.
Our community allotment is a real haven in the city, and is a wonderful green space where people can get involved in growing, or simply relax by taking time out and enjoying nature.
We grow lots of beautiful flowers and also plenty of delicious organic food, which is then shared in our community food pantry for local families an individuals to enjoy.
Big thanks to everyone who came along to join us yesterday. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the allotment as much as we do!
