How Minna will ‘Bee There’ this Christmas
This year, as part of our Advent appeal, we’re asking how you will Bee There for others this Christmas.
Here, Minna, who runs our accessibility service, tells us more about what the festive season means to her…
How will you Bee There for others this Christmas?
Christmas is very busy in my parish, and I hope to be a good supporter of other parishioners and the parish priest. I’m mindful also that my mum still worries about gifts and money despite me being 40 now. I think highlighting community is important.
The Advent appeal this year includes our bee characters in a special animation featuring television adverts. What would your TV advertising slogan or campaign be to help encourage people to #BeeThere this Christmas?
No man is an island, no bee is a hive…
What changes would you like to see to help people in your community this Christmas?
I would really like people to understand the true meaning of Christmas, that God sent his son to take on our humanity to save us from this broken world. Commercialisation has taken over and sacrificial love seems to have been replaced with price tags. It makes more sense to me, that people share “little acts of kindness” rather that shop bought gifts. Share time – presence, rather than presents.
What is the true meaning of Christmas to you, and how will you put it into action this year?
To me, Jesus is the meaning of the season, so I plan to spend much time supporting the parish activities and supporting others in ways that become present.
Minna is currently looking for people to support her in 2025 as volunteer accessibility advocates in their local community. Please take a look now if you might have a few hours free and would be willing to help: www.caritassalford.org.uk/volunteer
If you’ve not yet seen our Bee There Advent appeal animation – you can watch it below now, and please donate if you can.
Every penny really does help us support more local people like those our teams work alongside in Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Thank you.
