Leave a legacy that lasts
As we approach World Homelessness Day this year, we just want to say a very special thank you to those supporters who have pledged a charitable gift in their Will to ensure local people are helped out of homelessness, poverty or disadvantage long after they’ve gone.
The late Canon David Eccleshare (pictured above) was one such person, who ensured that there was a final donation left to Caritas Salford in his Will to provide support for local people.
Gifts in Wills can be large or small. In fact, just 1% left to a charity like Caritas Salford after your loved ones have been provided for, can make a huge difference to our work.
For example, in the future your gift might:
- employ a support worker who prevents someone losing their home, or guides them as they prepare to hold down their forever tenancy.
- help pay for a new building where people experiencing homelessness can take shelter, keep warm, have a shower and a hot meal.
- help children and families access social worker support or counselling as they move towards their own more secure, safe home.
- contribute towards a programme of sessions for health, wellbeing, or opportunities to learn employment skills.
While many of us don’t want to think about it, or put it off for another day, making a Will and letting those closest to you know your wishes is vital – it is also usually a really straightforward process that doesn’t take much time to do, and is the only charitable gift that costs you nothing at all today.
Will you please remember Caritas Salford in your Will this year?
To make a gift in your Will, all you need is our charity name – Caritas Diocese of Salford – and our registered charity number – 1125808. Your solicitor should be able to do the rest, and it usually only takes a few minutes.
There are lots of reasons to write a Will, often prompted by an event like the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child, marriage, purchasing property, or wanting to ensure those closest to you inherit and know your wishes.
When the time is right for you, please do consider remembering Caritas Salford too. Your kindness would make a huge, huge difference. Thank you.
If you need any support, have decided to leave a gift in your Will to our charity, or have any queries at all, please do get in touch.
