Every step mattered at Lancashire sponsored walk
Do you know someone who would enjoy this article?
We’re really grateful to everyone who has been taking on Every Step challenges this year to help raise money to support local people experiencing homelessness, poverty and discrimination.
This weekend saw a group of thirty one fantastic supporters take on a special sponsored walk in Lancashire.
The team, led by experienced walk leaders, Mark Sutcliffe and Phil Clough, trekked the Tolkien Trail, a beautiful circular walk exploring the ancient woodlands and rivers of the Ribble Valley.
The 12km challenge, which included 160 metres of climbing, started and ended at Hurst Green, grazing the façade of the impressive Stonyhurst College on route.
Rachel Taylor, who leads our fundraising team at Caritas, said: “What a brilliant day. It was so fantastic to see everyone gathered together enjoying an activity which wasn’t just great for their health and wellbeing, but also helped to raise much-needed funds for local people.
“The weather remained quite kind, despite the forecast not being great, and it was so lovely to see some amazing parts of the Lancashire countryside too.
“Every Step allows people to really tailor the challenge they want to do to their own likes, ability or needs – whether it’s a physical challenge like the walk this weekend, or a mental one, it really will make a difference.
“If you’ve not signed up for your own challenge yet, why not do so now? We’ve had people baking, reading, walking, running – you name it! Take a look on our website page now for some inspiration at www.caritassalford.org.uk/everystep or get in touch if you’d be up for joining us at the Lancashire sponsored walk next summer too!”
