Our charity works alongside people from across Lancashire and Greater Manchester who are experiencing poverty, homelessness, displacement and disadvantage – we also work alongside people in our local communities to encourage them to take action to directly help those in their area too.

As part of this work, we’re pleased to be offering some special free training for parishes in Manchester

The ‘Parishes tackling poverty: hope through action’ training, which we’re running in partnership with Resolve Poverty, will equip parishes with practical tools to support people in poverty in their community.

Taking place on Saturday 21 June 2025 from 10am (arrivals from 9.30am) to 12.30pm at our Lady’s RC Church, 63 Raby Street, Moss Side, Manchester, M16 7DJ, the training will also help parishes become a more visible presence when it comes to tackling poverty locally.

Patrick O’Dowd, our director, said: “There are thousands and thousands of individuals and families in our area who are experiencing poverty right now. They’re not simply a statistic, they’re real people who never imagined they’d find themselves in this situation.

“In this Jubilee year, there’s a real opportunity for parishes to become even more missionary in their approach and we’re keen to support as many as possible so they are armed with the tools and knowledge on how best to reach out and help.

“We’re always keen to assist parishes or offer advice in their work when it comes to our charity’s core areas of focus and this latest training is just one way of doing that.

“We can’t wait to see everyone from local parishes or other organisations at the training.”
