“Your work is grounded in love, respect and genuine care.” Why Jo supports Caritas

Can you please tell us a little about yourself?
I’m Jo, a nutritional therapist and the founder of Amaranth Wellbeing, a health and wellbeing store with a natural health clinic based in Bramhall, Stockport, and online.
We opened our doors in 2012 with a mission to support people on their journey to better health through high-quality supplements, organic beauty, natural remedies, and holistic therapies.
Our team of qualified practitioners provide expert advice, and we pride ourselves on creating a caring, community-focused environment.
Jo, why did you decide to choose Caritas Salford to benefit from this donation?
I had heard about Caritas Salford after meeting Rachel Taylor, the head of fundraising for the charity, while out on a hike in the Peak District.
When Viridian kindly asked for a nomination for their charity programme, I looked further into Caritas Salford and began to understand the incredible work you do to support those most in need across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
As our business is rooted in compassion and wellbeing, I wanted our support to go to a charity that was making a real difference to the wellbeing of others.
Caritas reflects the values that are important to us — dignity, hope, and support for those facing extremely difficult circumstances.
Your donation will help support children, families and individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness and disadvantage. Why are those particular issues important to you?
At Amaranth, we often work with people who are looking to optimise their health or specific aspects of their wellbeing, and we use nutrition plans or treatments to support them. We recognise, however, that for many, the basic needs of safety, security, nourishment, and connection are not being met.
I feel passionate that everybody should have the opportunity for these. Supporting people who are facing poverty, homelessness, or disadvantage is vital if we want to create healthier, more hopeful communities.
What is it about our work you think is most important?
Our visit to Caritas Salford allowed us to truly understand the work that is being done.
The thing that struck me the most was the respect with which everybody is treated.
We are all people and should be treated in the same way, despite the disadvantages that life has given.
At Caritas, you offer people choices, the opportunity to create a purpose and to be part of a community.
You offer a holistic approach. You don’t just offer supplies and aid, you also walk alongside people for the long term, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and self-worth.
Your work is grounded in love, respect, and genuine care. That’s rare and incredibly valuable.
What would you say to other businesses considering helping Caritas Salford – why should they choose us?
If you’re looking to make a real difference, look no further. Supporting Caritas Salford means helping people at some of their most vulnerable moments and you can be sure that your contribution will be used thoughtfully and impactfully. It’s a meaningful way for businesses to live their values and give back to the community.
Thanks again to Jo and to Viridian for their kindness and support. We really appreciate it.
