B&Q grant helps transform Young Parents’ Accommodation
We want all of our services to be as welcoming as they possibly can be and work hard, alongside the people who access them, to ensure we can continue to meet their needs and support them as they transform their lives long-term.
At our young parents’ accommodation in Blackburn, which is home to families and their young children and babies, we were really grateful to be given a grant from B&Q to help transform the space.
Thanks to the B&Q funding, we’ve been able to redecorate the communal lounge, playroom, hallways and kitchen, creating a space that feels even more homely, calming and comforting.
Amanda Croome, our head of homelessness, said: “We believe everyone should have a home where they feel safe and can live with dignity, and this is so important for our families due to the trauma and homelessness they have experienced. We want to welcome them into a homely space and the generosity of B&Q has enabled us to do just that.
“Feedback from the residents has been great and they have all commented how lovely it looks and feels. It’s a relaxing place where they can spend lots of time together and be supported by our team as they prepare for independent living and develop parenting skills to enable their babies to thrive.
“Thanks again to B&Q for their support and to everyone who helps by making donations or helping our charity in other ways. We simply wouldn’t be here without your kindness and it makes a huge difference to the lives of people in Greater Manchester and Lancashire that we support.”
