Do you know someone who would enjoy this article?

Our Cornerstone centre supports people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

This year our Advent appeal, which aims to raise much-needed funds so we can #BeeThere for people at Christmas and beyond, is asking for your help to shine a spotlight on what’s really important.

Here, one of the people who accesses the Cornerstone centre service shares what Christmas means to them and what they think is most important at this time of year – and beyond too…

What does Caritas and our service mean to you?
It means an awful lot. Thank you.

What difference does our service make to you?
It gives a lot of help and does a lot of good.  It creates friendship and that’s important too.

Is there anything unexpected here that surprised you?
The showers are big and good.  The food can be great too and one day when I’m settled, I’d like to volunteer in the kitchen.

What is the true meaning of Christmas to you and how will you put it into action this year?
Happiness and being with nice people who care.

How will you #BeeThere for others this Christmas?
I’ll do the same as always.  I’ll listen and offer advice if I can.  Everyone needs help, just like me, so it’s good to share support.

What would you like to shine a spotlight on this Christmas?
That’s a tough one.  There’s so much I think the world needs…

Just respect people.  Look and listen before jumping in feet first and going straight to anger.

What’s really important at this time of year?
Giving thanks and being happy.  It’s a small world and people should look for positives.

Our animation (you can watch it below) features Lewis Capal-bee, Benson Bee, the BeeGees, and Abbbba (with four bees!).  Can you think of any other bee related stars?
Barbee Windsor or Blake-bee from On the Buses!
