Supporting Pauline*

Pauline has been sofa-surfing with her two young children, aged 2 and 6, since September 2020. She presented initially to our Lalley community pantry and requested support.

A referral was made to the homelessness team and support given to access ‘Manchester Moves’.

Though accepted and reassured that a property would be available to her, this did not come to fruition. During this time her leave to remain came through and she began to receive benefits.

A healthy start application also enabled her to access additional funds for foods and to access to much-needed vitamins for the children.

A property was signed up for the family and referrals were made to Mustard Tree and Manchester City Council for furniture packages.

Both were accepted and the house was furnished, avoiding furniture poverty.

The family are now settled in their new home.

Where your money goes

It costs £12,000 per day to provide the level of service and support being delivered in Caritas projects across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

Which means that everyone who needs it is able to access urgent practical help required, as well as any advice and support that will help them for the long term.

Every single donation matters because it means nobody is turned away or left behind.

These are just some examples of how your donation could be used to provide critical support – right now – or help someone begin to transform their own life with dignity.
