Supporting David*
David* came to us for support when he was sleeping rough on the street and had a substance misuse problem. He hadn’t had a relationship with his immediate family for a number of years, was unable to claim benefits and had no place to call home.

David first came to our Red Door Centre when he was sleeping rough on the street and had a substance misuse problem.
Our team welcomed him and supported him to access housing and drug support, via referrals to professional support agencies.
With our help, he was supported to open a bank account, claim benefits and eventually move into his own home with a tenancy of his own.
When things got tough and David relapsed, he was welcomed back and staff helped him to see where things had gone wrong and how he could manage tough situations better in the future.
He continues to live in his flat, which he’s been able to fully furnish, manages his money well and today, is rebuilding relationships with his immediate family, whom he has not seen for a number of years.
He has also started volunteering regularly at Red Door under our Community Volunteer Programme, which he is really enjoying and continues to give him a positive focus. It also enables him to help us to support other local people too.

Where your money goes
It costs £12,000 per day to provide the level of service and support being delivered in Caritas projects across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Which means that everyone who needs it is able to access urgent practical help required, as well as any advice and support that will help them for the long term.
Every single donation matters because it means nobody is turned away or left behind.
These are just some examples of how your donation could be used to provide critical support – right now – or help someone begin to transform their own life with dignity.
