Supporting Asma*
Asma was resettled by one of our local community sponsorship volunteer groups. It was the first time she had been away from her extended family and she did not speak English when she first arrived in the UK.

She struggled at first to adjust to living on her own with her children.
The volunteers did their best to welcome and support her. They still, however, encouraged her to learn how to navigate all aspects of life on her own, such as booking medical appointments, communicating with the job centre, learning how to understand her banking and finances, and how to navigate general UK systems.
A year on, she is able to achieve most of these things on her own. She has not only been resettled to safety but also now has access to education for her children.
She now travels on her own to visit family, go to appointments and is able to communicate directly with agencies to advocate for herself and her children.

Where your money goes
It costs £12,000 per day to provide the level of service and support being delivered in Caritas projects across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Which means that everyone who needs it is able to access urgent practical help required, as well as any advice and support that will help them for the long term.
Every single donation matters because it means nobody is turned away or left behind.
These are just some examples of how your donation could be used to provide critical support – right now – or help someone begin to transform their own life with dignity.
