‘Peely’ good challenge for our Red Door Centre

A team from the Caritas Red Door Centre in Bury will be taking on a ‘peely’ good challenge this June to raise much-needed funds. 

Members of the team of staff, volunteers and people who access the service have pledged to walk the five miles from the Red Door Centre to Peel Tower in a special sponsored walk activity for our charity. 

Sue, from Red Door, said: “This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of Red Door within the borough by walking to arguably Bury town’s most famous monument. The walk will be a challenge but hopefully many members of our community and partners will be able to join us and support us on the day.”  

The challenge is part of our Every Step campaign, which is asking people from across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and beyond, to consider doing something which pushes them out of their comfort zone this year.  This can be something physical or mental – anything goes as long as it is a challenge for the person taking it on.  

Patrick O’Dowd, our director, said: “What a fantastic idea for an Every Step challenge – here’s hoping the weather is fine as it will be a beautiful walk I’m sure. 

“As the cost-of-living crisis continues to hit people in the communities we support hard, activities like this one that raise much-needed funds have become arguably more important than ever. 

“It’s amazing to see so many people coming up with ways to push themselves out of their comfort zone as they join the Every Step campaign this year.   

“If you’re not able to take on your own challenge, why not sponsor the Red Door team?  All the money raised will go back into the service to help them as they endeavour to support as many people as possible experiencing poverty, homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. Thanks to everyone involved.”
