A team of people from the Caritas Cornerstone and Morning Star centres is set to push themselves to the limit this June, with an epic fitness challenge with a difference!

Members of the team of staff, volunteers and people who access the Cornerstone and Morning Star centres, have pledged to take part in a 12-hour gym-athon on the centre’s outdoor gym – a space regularly used by people experiencing homelessness locally.

The challenge is part of our Every Step campaign, which is asking people from across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and beyond, to consider doing something which pushes them out of their comfort zone this year.  This can be something physical or mental – anything goes as long as it is a challenge for the person taking it on.

Patrick O’Dowd, our director, said: “Twelve hours is a long time for the team to take part in this challenge and I can’t wait to cheer them on.

“All of the money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of the people that the Cornerstone and Morning Star centres work alongside – people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

“It’s amazing to see so many people joining in the Every Step campaign and taking on their own challenge in 2024, whether physical or mental.  People are coming up with ingenious ways to raise funds and we couldn’t be more grateful.

“If you’re not able to take on your own challenge, please do consider sponsoring the team from Cornerstone and Morning Star.  Even a pound or two will help as take even more steps to improving the lives of local people for the long-term.”
