On our community allotment we’re always pleased to welcome groups, organisations and individuals interested in learning, helping out, or simply enjoying some fresh air in a lovely environment…

Over the last term, we’ve enjoyed welcoming learners from Back on Track for weekly visits.

The group have grown and harvested lots of vegetables, gathered seeds to sow next year and helped us to keep up with maintenance of the allotment too.

We also all enjoyed exploring two local parks and learning about their history, as well as identifying wild plants and fungi growing there.

Using some of the inkcap mushrooms growing on the allotment, some of the group members made some natural drawings and prints with them too.

And of course…we all had plenty of time to enjoy sitting with friends to have a refreshing cup of tea outdoors!

Some of the people who came along have given us lovely feedback about their time at the allotment:

“I loved learning how to harvest vegetables and learning about nature.  It has improved my confidence quite a lot and improved my social skills.”

“I enjoyed getting out into the fresh air and doing some physical work.”

“Raddon explains things really well and I really enjoy visiting the allotment every week!”

“It’s really useful to work as part of a team and I feel more confident after going to the allotment.”

“Helping out at the allotment has really helped my mental health, I feel a sense of achievement from growing the plant from seed and seeing it grow.”

“The allotment is really relaxing and it’s helped me become more of a team player.”

Thanks again to everyone from the Back on Track group. We can’t wait to welcome them back again in the Spring.
