It’s Volunteers’ Week!

This week we’re celebrating the fantastic group of more than 200 volunteers who work with our teams across the charity.

We simply couldn’t do what we do without them – why not pledge to join us as a volunteer too?

Here, our director Patrick O’Dowd, tells us more…

In 2024 our volunteers were thrilled to be honoured by King Charles as one of the very first groups to receive the King’s Award for Voluntary Service following his coronation.

It was fantastic to see the group recognised in this way – the award is equivalent to an MBE – but we also try to recognise, acknowledge and celebrate the amazing support that our volunteers give year-round.

We’re a charity which is seeing increasing demand for our services and as a result meeting the needs of local people in Greater Manchester and Lancashire has arguably never been more important.

We have a huge range of roles that volunteers can take on. If you love gardening; like to drive around the city; have a passion for accessibility and opening up access for everyone; want to champion money-saving by giving energy advice to people needing it most; would love to help take action to bring about change in your local parish or wider community, or have other skills you think would be helpful to Caritas, we’d love to hear from you.

So, thank you to all of our fabulous Caritas Salford volunteers for everything they do 365 days a year.  And thanks to you too if you are considering joining them.
