Caritas Diocese of Salford launched its ‘Little Sleep Out’ initiative on 21st September to raise funds for Caritas Homeless Services, after three schools followed Cornerstone’s Big Sleep Out success. Headteacher of St Ambrose Primary, Ruth Vayro, fervently encouraged other schools to take up the challenge, saying,
“The Little Sleep Out is a fantastic way for children to learn from experience. Even if it is only for one night, they gain an appreciation of what it is like not to have a roof over their head and not to have the comforts of a cosy home. The experience in some small way will raise their awareness of the problem of homelessness and have something important to say about it.”
