Super Skills for Life ®

superskillsTarget population: Key Stage 2 children who are shy, low self esteem, withdrawn, anxious.

Number of pupils: Groups of 4-8 pupils

Duration: 1 hour delivery 10 week programme including 2 sessions for parents weeks plus 2 further sessions one for assessment and one for evaluation

Evaluation tools used to measure impact: Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders (SCARED) questionnaire for pupils, Pre flyer for parents. Two sessions for parents one pre and post and one telephone call mid programme

School to provide: Referral and consent form, Suitable room with TV or Smart board, Teacher evaluations pre and post

 

This model is a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based programme using video feedback, mindfulness and behavioural activation. The course teaches the children skills to enhance self-confidence, build emotional resilience and social competence to cope with life changes. As part of the programme children are also taught skills in conflict management and relaxation skills. This course is particularly effective for children who are quiet and withdrawn and results in a significant reduction in anxiety problems.
