The Experience of Encounter ~ Caritas Westminster event to help us welcome refugees and migrants.

The Experience of Encounter ~ Caritas Westminster event to help us welcome refugees and migrants.
Thursday 9th September 2pm
Our friends in Caritas Westminster are hosting the following event. All are welcome to attend.
To register, please go to: EventBrite – A culture of encounter with refugees and asylum seekers
An opportunity for all parish and schools who seek to welcome and empower migrants and refugees, to meet together, share best practice and ideas, receive training and agree main advocacy issues.  The main aim of the gathering is to increase awareness and understanding, through the experience of encounter. As such it is open to all Catholics, whether or not you are currently linked to a project.
We will meet four refugees to hear their stories; their journey to the UK, their experience of the UK asylum system and their dreams, aspirations and successes since they have arrived here.
We will use Catholic Social Teaching to reflect on how we as Catholics and people of good will should respond, especially in light of the current crisis in Afghanistan and the new Nationalities and Borders Bill which we can join together to influence as it goes through parliament.
Let’s use our strong network of parishes, schools, Catholic institutions, charities, projects and enthusiastic volunteers to be more welcoming to our brothers and sisters from around the world.
