Volunteering as an ESOL teacher is a great opportunity for individuals to gain experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages and develop new skills while making a real difference to peoples’ lives. Talk English Salford is looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers to deliver free ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses across the Salford area. Talk English is a project funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) which aims to help those isolated by their lack of speaking confidence improve their language skills and become part of their wider community.
What training and support is available?
Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential. Volunteers are invited to join an initial two day training course to prepare them for their role. Volunteers also have the opportunity to work towards a Level 3 Open Awards Badge of Excellence in ESOL teaching.
Our next training session will be held on Monday the 4th and Tuesday the 5th of June (10 am to 3 pm) at Cathedral Centre, 3 Ford St, Salford M3 6DP.
To join the training, please request an application form from Suzannah Redmond. If you would like to find out more first you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or call: 07754239939 .
