We are very grateful to Lawrence O’Donnell, President of the Rochdale Catenian Circle, for choosing Caritas as his President’s Charity for the last 12 months.
Kathryn Ansley was delighted to attend their recent Circle dinner on behalf of Caritas and accept a donation cheque from Lawrence for over £3,000.
After the presentation of the cheque, Kathryn thanked the Brothers and their families for all their fundraising efforts over the course of the last year, which have included a hair and beard shave, a summer BBQ, a wine-tasting event, a Murder Mystery night and numerous raffles.
Kathryn spoke briefly about the work of Caritas and in particular about the new project they are supporting in Rochdale, adapting the vacant presbytery at St John’s Church, a Grade II listed building, in order to accommodate and support those who find themselves homeless and destitute. The Circle have invited Kathryn to return later in the year to speak to them in more detail. And there is more good news: incoming President Graham Sivills has chosen to continue to support Caritas, together with CAFOD, as part of his President’s charities for the next year. Thank you Rochdale Catenians!
