Imagining a world without homelessness

On Friday, 10th July we held the Cornerstone Big Sleep In to raise money for our flagship service on Denmark Rd, Manchester. The Cornerstone Big Sleep Out has become a highlight in the Caritas fundraising calendar, where people come together each year to sleep out of doors in solidarity with those who have no choice but to sleep rough every night. Sadly, this year the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the cancelling of the Cornerstone Big Sleep Out as the government announced vital social distancing regulations and lockdown measures in order to save lives and stop the spread of the virus. Instead, we organised the Cornerstone Big Sleep In, allowing people to sleep anywhere inside their own home except their comfortable bed, this time in solidarity with those experiencing one of the hidden forms of homelessness: sofa surfing.

On the night we at Caritas and Cornerstone were joined by Bishop John and other guests to discuss the issue of homelessness and what we can all do to put an end to it. We hope you will enjoy watching the video of the webinar below.
