Caritas, Diocese of Salford and Greater Manchester Citizens

 

Greater Manchester Citizens met on Monday 1st April at UNISON’s North West HQ by Victoria Station. Caritas representing the Diocese of Salford was represented by parishioners of St. Michael and Bernadette’s, Whitefield and by the Director of Caritas Mark Wiggin.

The Diocese of Salford is a founder member of Greater Manchester Citizens and is committed to supporting community organising that promotes the dignity and wellbeing of citizens. Citizens is currently focusing on its growth strategy, GM Mayoral Assembly planning and celebrating some wins on our campaigns around Living Wage, Social Care, Housing/Homelessness and Hate Crime.

Going forward Caritas will be asking parishes in the Greater Manchester area to bring together a core team or delegates for leadership training that will be help to build the work with GM Citizens and address key social issues in our local communities. Leadership training will take place on 25th-26th May at the Manchester University Catholic Chaplaincy on Oxford Road from 9.30 to 4.30pm and the next Wider Leadership Team Meeting will be on Wednesday 12th June 2019, 18.00 – 20.00 at UNISON’s North West HQ by Victoria Station.
