Poetry Exhibition: The Long Road South To Find True North

Where and when:

Manchester Central Library, Manchester City Centre

9 March to 29 May 2026

About this exhibition:

A special project from Caritas Salford, created by people experiencing homelessness and supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

This is an exhibition of poems which leap from the page, coming to life as a series of paper sculptures – from ‘wish frogs; and folded globes to infinity poems and songs.

Created by local people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, the poetry was developed by eighty people from our Cornerstone day centre in Hulme, as they imagined new life-paths and asked themselves questions about their hopes and aspirations for the future.

An intriguing, thought-provoking, curious display to inspire and encourage us all to think about life, where we have been, and what the future may hold.

At Caritas, we believe that everyone should have opportunity to participate in all activities. This includes people who use our services, employees and volunteers.

Together we will work alongside individuals to find inclusive ways of working that suit them best.  We seek to welcome, integrate, and support the participation of all people by making our projects accessible.  If you face barriers because of your physical, mental and emotional, learning, sensory and/or communications needs, please let us know.
