St Joseph’s Welfare Centre in Collyhurst supports vulnerable, isolated older people living at home in North Manchester, delivering a very highly valued visiting an support service for people with limited mobility, declining coping capacity and poor mental health.

Help varies from a friendly ‘chat and check’ to escorting the client on their weekly shop and may also include negotiations with the Housing Department, the Benefits Agency, contact with GPs/Consultants and lifts to a range of appointments.

A service funded by the local council, clients are referred through Adult Social Services or Community Health to boost care packages or to provide good neighbourhood support to those with needs for which no statutory help is given.
