In Maryvale, the Blackburn Young Parents’ Unit, we ran a ‘Positive Images Project’ aimed at increasing confidence and self-esteem in the young women living there.

Throughout the project, young mothers have taken part in a variety of creative activities to encourage them to explore both the negative and positive aspects of what they think and feel about themselves and others in order to develop the thought processes that enable them to be more positive. Jill Burgess, artist and project leader said, “Nothing would have been possible without the ongoing support and enthusiasm of Maryvale staff, young mothers and visitors. All at Maryvale should feel really proud of their achievements, and I feel privileged to have been a part of it!”
