The Bishop of Salford has instructed every parish in the diocese to hold a special collection the first Sunday of February to specifically support the work of Caritas. In 2012, Caritas Sunday will be celebrated on 5 February.

Caritas Sunday is an opportunity for the Family of God in the Diocese of Salford, to carry out its Christian duty and respond to the needs of others who experience poverty and disadvantage. Through the tradition of the Catholic Church to express faith through acts of mercy and alms giving, Caritas Diocese of Salford works locally to build just communities that promote dignity and care for others in need.

In 2012, we are raising money for our Community Resource Centres that offer free, confidential advice on everything from benefits and welfare to personal and relationship problems.

You can make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged individuals and families in the Diocese of Salford!

£10 could submit a welfare application for a vulnerable adult
£20 could buy pre-school educational materials for vulnerable children
£50 could fund a therapy session with a family counsellor
£250 could enable an outreach support worker to provide advice and services for a week

Please give generously through your church or through the donation page of our website. Thank you!

I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me drink;
I was a stranger and you made me welcome;
naked and you clothed me,
sick and you visited me,
in prison and you came to see me.
(Matthew 25 35-37).
