Lent: 22 February – 8 April 2012

Lent is a special time when Catholics prepare for the resurrection of Christ. It is a time of fasting and penance in order to resonate with the sacrifice of Jesus.

The St Joseph Penny Lenten Collection started in 1904 to support impoverished children in the diocese. Caritas continues this history of giving today by encouraging Catholic schools across the diocese to raise money for vulnerable children in their communities.

In 2012, we are asking for donations to our Young Parents’ Services for homeless young mothers and their children. In particular, we are developing an outreach service to reach more families in need across the diocese.
