We provide ongoing services to all people who have been involved in the adoption process through Catholic Children’s Rescue Society or through Caritas.
You may be:
- An adoptee
- An adopter
- A birth relative of an adoptee
Services for adoptees
- Access to birth records for anyone over the age of 18
- Advice and assistance in tracing birth relatives
- Act as an intermediary in contacting birth relatives
- Support through the process of reunion
- Offer hospitality for the reunion
- Help in registering a “veto” to prevent contact from birth relatives
- Pass on subsequent medical information
Services for adoptive families
- A duty telephone system for advice and guidance
- Therapeutic help for children and adults
- Counselling for adults
- Training in behaviour management
- ‘Explaining Adoption’ workshops
- Support groups for parents of adopted children
- Support groups for parents of adult adoptees
Services for birth relatives
- Advice and assistance in tracing adoptees
- Act as an intermediary in contacting an adoptee
- Support through the process of reunion
- Offer hospitality for the reunion
- Advice on how to register a wish for “no contact”
